Spread the love

Ahead of the back to back home games with Notts County and Crawley we all knew, as did Rotherham, Wolves and Orient fans (gone a tad quiet from our East London brethren eh?), that anything less than a six point haul for the Bees could spell trouble or induce a wobble.

I agreed with the absolute ‘need’ to have come out of those matches with the maximum spoils – and it is great to wake up this morning happy, proud and yes… relieved.

The nine point gap looks a huge one for any rival to overhaul now – and Rotherham’s defeat to a weakened Sheffield United underlines what a great point ours was at Bramall Lane a week ago. No, the pressure’s not off Warburton’s men, but that pressure takes on a different form almost overnight.

The battle’s outcome is obviously the same – securing seven more points from the fifteen to play for puts Brentford in an unassailable position – however, it is unlikely we will need 93 points in my humble opinion – Rotherham’s players will know that the game is up this morning – as did Orient’s after we’d turned them over at Brisbane Road. It’s all about taking good form into the play-offs … Being positive rather than disappointed … and I hope the Millers go up that route as they have been the most impressive of the chasing pack.

No, the inspiration, the focus, the rallying cry must now be ‘let’s go for the crown’ … Let’s overtake Wolves and go up as Champions. Assume nothing.

Now that would be a fitting end to a fantastic season.
