I’m not sure…
I would keep him, if it’s less than 45 million….
Why not wait until January, to see where we are at, and then if he has to go he can go… Think we just need him as a bit of insurance. You’d pay swap 20 mil for 20 goals no? Or maybe his head has gone, and we wouldn’t see the same Wissa?
Just would leave us with only Schade who has proven he can do it at this level – not that I doubt Thiago, or Nunes or anyone we sign, but: it’s a big question mark!
Still, many clubs are in a similar boat rebuilding their teams, and maybe this is an opportunity to completely change the system? (What would Thiago suit if we built the attack around him?)
Is KLP seen as an attacking option??
Totally get that caution, but when the money is on the table now, it’s hard to ignore. You can see how tempting it may prove.
These offers make for a tough test of the club’s resolve and belief in its “players in waiting”. I’d have rather held onto Mbuemo to January and dealt Wissa. But at this point it may be he’s “gone mentally” already and w/o his setup man on pitch he’s weaker. Also Wissa does more “block” Thiago. I’d bet he goes for 43M£ and we we Thiago & Schaade … or if/when Rico is healthy KLP up top.
Buckle up Bees … it may be a bumpy ride. But we are STILL Prem and STILL NOT F&$@‘am!!! COYB
If his heart isn’t in the Brentford project anymore let him move on – 40m has a nice ring to it
Benham ,Giles,Dykes (Three Spurs and Frank couldn’t take with him) I will trust thelr judgement as they have not got much wrong over the years have they.
Mixed feelings here, as Wissa is my favorite player. It’ll be a challenge to us, if both Wissa and Mbeumo leave, but as we have the successor in place for Wissa (Thiago), we have no immediate successor to Bryan. Hutchinson could be a solution, but he hasn’t convinced me in his time in Ipswich. If he had done that, he would probably be much more expensive.
I honestly don’t know how we intend to use Thiago … he seems a completely different option to Mbeumo and Wissa… he’s even different to Toney… something else for Andrews to stay awake at night thinking about I guess.
I think Wissa will regret going but if his heart is no longer at Brentford we will cope without him. I really hope we get the Hutchinson deal done as I see him being an upgrade on Mbeumo no doubt he, will get better service and support than at Ipswich.
With Hickey returning to the playing squad I wonder if there is scope to utilize Kayode further forward ?
Too risky to lose Thomas, Christian, Bryan and Wissa in one summer. We should offer him £100k a week for 3 years- £15m. If we lose Wissa and start the season badly, then we are under real pressure. I wouldn’t take the risk.
Don’t disagree at all, but like so much of these deals and developments, some solutions are easier said than done unfortunately… if the player and agent wants out, and there is a big fee achievable, sometimes that’s the only likely outcome.
Sorry if I’m naive, but isn’t this mostly about money; Brentford aren’t big payers and Wissa’s just seen his buddy sign a 5 year deal for £60m. (£250k pw for 5 years). Whereas Wissa’s remaining deal is probably £4m (£40k pw for 2 years). We know Wissa was frustrated not starting for us in the early days, but he’s not going to start at Newcastle & it’s cold up there! I’d like to offer him the money that Newcastle would…….
Nope His head has been turned off you trot Wiss thanks for the memories. NEXT.
