Midlands-based journalist and regular Beesotted columnist Jim Levack looks forward to the weekend’s big 6 pointer with glee

The media have a habit of looking towards important games and adding the slightly clichéd epithet of “six pointer”, “make or break” or “potentially decisive” to spice things up a bit. I’ve done it so I can’t criticise.

Tomorrow’s game really doesn’t need any spicing up because it will be a sell-out and if the Molineux clash was anything to go by, should be a feast of good football.

And, I’d argue, that it’s also none of the above descriptions either.

I’d love to see Brentford silence the Wolves fans, who still seem to believe that success and promotion are god given rights.

I’m also delighted that the good offices of the Hounslow Chronicle and their excellent Get West London website haven’t resorted to pointless polls asking ‘Will Wolves end Brentford’s unbeaten run?’

That fact that more than 1,000 Wolves fans took the time to exercise their mouse muscle is, frankly, a little distressing.

No, for me tomorrow’s game is just one more challenge and I’m strangely calm about the whole thing.

Obviously that might change at five to three, but for me the seven games heading our way in March are far more important than this one.

There are three points available and if Brentford play like they can, I think that man for man they have the edge over Wolves.

But look back to last season and the now traditional ‘if only’ list of games that should have been won but were only drawn or lost and it gives a better perspective on tomorrow.

Psychologically, whoever wins will have a boost but if they then lose to a mid table outfit they should – on paper – be rolling over, that boost is gone and the points tally is the same.

I’ve thought this for a week or two now, so I was delighted when Mark Warburton came out four or five days ago and said the exact same thing.

Whoever takes the spoils tomorrow won’t be promoted or consigned to another season in League One… that will be decided by depth of squad, skill and a little bit of luck.
