Brentford have today signed highly rated defender James Tarkowski from Oldham for an undisclosed fee – rumoured on twitter to be anywhere between £150k -£350k (although Oldham fans rate him at a much higher figure).
The 21 year old centre back will return to Oldham for one month when the loan window re-opens next Saturday as part of the deal.
Tarkowski fits the current Brentford blueprint for new signings – a young player with good physical attributes, ability on the ball and potential to improve. He might yet prove to be a vital cog in our push for promotion.
The Bees have also been linked with defenders Rob Kiernan (Wigan) and Kortney Hause (Wycombe) but it’s currently unclear whether Brentford’s interest will cool in either following the arrival of Tarkowski. Given the news of his loan back to Oldham we suspect we might yet also bring one or the other in today.
