Brentford took on promotion chasing Cardiff City at Griffin Park in the last Tuesday night home fixture of the season – The Bees were unbeaten in four and looking to extend that that run – while Cardiff looked to the close in on the play-off positions.
Josh Clarke came in for Max Colin while KK started starting ahead of Canos who dropped to the bench.
There were few chances in the first half and the sides went in level at the break without a goal being scored, although it was clear the ref had little control over the game.
In the second half both teams increased the tempo and the game became more open. The second-half also seemed to trigger Cardiff players falling over and complaining to referee about every single piece of contact.
The last ten minutes prove to be an exciting period as we experienced three goals in quick succession. Scott Hogan came on as a substitute to score again in the 83rd minute after the ball had rebounded off the crossbar for him to score poachers goal. He was at it again three minutes later to double Brentford’s lead – his third goal in two games.
However, Brentford were pegged back to 2-1 minutes later when Zohore prodded past Button, but the Bees held on the extend the unbeaten run to five games ahead of a trip to relegation haunted MK Dons – the reds have now accumulated 13 out of a possible 15 points over the recent weeks, which is an exceptional run.
