Nineteen-year-old striker Chris Long joined The Bees today and is hoping to make the grade at Championship Brentford – the deal is understood to initially be a one-month youth loan.
Long has been on the Goodison books since he was a nipper, and has progressed through the academy set-up from the age of just five. His promising development was capped when he made his first team debut for Everton in the Europa League and has represented England at youth level.
Stan Osborne, a season ticket holder at Everton, and a former Everton youth player himself during the club’s title winning season in 1970, said of Long…
Chris Long is another local lad picked up by the Everton scouting network at an early age and the 19 year old has made progress through the ranks at Goodison Park into the U21 squad finally making his senior debut in a cameo substitute appearance in the Europa League this season.
He has a fine pedigree and Roberto Martinez obviously thinks he is ready to test himself with high flying Brentford after a loan previous loan spell with MK Dons. The experience of playing at a settled and ambitious Bees squad will certainly do Chris Long good and his eye for a goal might just come in handy at Griffin Park if the opportunity arises!
