Brentford have confirmed the signing of Ethan Pinnock from Barnsley, for a fee believed to be in the region of £3m. As has become the norm of late, both clubs have agreed for the exact details of the three year deal to remain undisclosed, however, Nathan is a highly regarded central defender and many Tykes fans are less than happy with the player’s departure from Oakwell.

The London-born 26-year-old had spent two years with the Yorkshire club, and has made a name as a composed defender who has a great aerial presence in both areas – Bees Head Coach, Thomas Frank, said of the player; “He has a good left foot and has the courage and composure to move the ball forward and find passes that we want to play. We are sure he will step up again in the Championship and do very well. He has a top character and a top mentality and will fit in to our squad on and off the pitch.”

Since losing Chris Mepham in January, and Yoann Barbet when his contract expired at the end of last season, the club have obviously been looking to bring in fresh blood at the back and we hope Pinnock can settle in quickly and establish himself as first team regular in what will be another tough Championship campaign.

Pinnock is expected to be available for the Bees’ friendly at AFC Wimbledon on Friday evening, before the squad fly out to Austria for pre-season training camp and another friendly against Dynamo Kiev.

Welcome to Griffin Park Ethan.
