Chuba Akpom’s move to Brentford has been put on hold until the end of the month.

The young striker was due to join the Bees after Arsenal’s thrashing of Peterborough in the Youth cup. Akpom scored a hat trick in the 6-1 win at London Rd.

The win prompted bitter local ‘journalist’ Alan Swann from the Peterborough Telegraph to imply that Brentford’s playing style was too unsophisticated for Akpom – leading to an interesting series of exchanges on twitter between Swann and …well about half of TW8.

Injuries to Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner, along with a supposed ‘easy’ FA draw against Coventry (they may have another thing coming), has made Arsenal decide to put a hold on things for a few weeks.

The chances Akpom being thrown into the thick of the Arsenal first team is highly unlikely. But Wenger won’t take any chances if he doesn’t have to and will prefer to get one or two replacements under his belt before committing his young starlet to life away from The Emirates.

Whether we will wait a few weeks or crack on trying to tie down the next young starlet on the list, only Mark Warburton and his team know.

If you want to check out what all the fuss is about with Akpom, have a peep at the video above with his hat trick against Posh.

Since this article was written, Arsenal have apparently green lighted the Akpom deal according to Jacob Murtagh of Get West London newspaper. More fun and games. All we need to do is start playing like Arsenal according to ‘journo’ Alan Swann and Akpom will feel like he’s at home
