The Will ‘the Griggster’ Grigg transfer scenario is due to roll on and on as the clubs are a million miles away from settling a fee for the striker.

The transfer of Grigg to Brentford was one of the quickest and smoothest in recent times with both the player, agent and club agreeing terms very quickly and painlessly.

However, it has been less of an easy ride with Walsall who have been demanding an overinflated fee for the player. Disgruntled (or should we say bitter?) Walsall boss was quoted as saying:

“I would like to wish Will all the best but I can’t at this moment in time” – gutted that Grigg made a move to a club in the same division.

He also told BBC WM that he hopes the club will be awarded around £1,000,000 by a tribunal set up to look in to Will Grigg’s transfer.

With such figures being banded around, it’s no surprise that the transfer is going to a tribunal. The date has not been set as yet but will not be before the end of August which will mean Grigg will play against Walsall before we have agreed a fee.

A gutted Smith told the Express and Star “They will still owe us money for one of our players – and he can play against us. The funds are there should we need to add anyone, but unfortunately it looks like being bolstered by the money for Will in September, after the window closes.”

Meanwhile, the Harry Forrester deal is pretty much resolved and is not going to tribunal. As Harry was out of contract but under 24, we are getting compensation for him as opposed to a fee.
