Brentford keeper Richard Lee, through his GK Icon academy, has helped create a Ugandan centre with coach Ronnie Kiwalabye with the aim of helping disadvantaged children in the country.

Kiwalabye, speaking to the St. Albans and Harpenden Review explained; “Through extensive research, I came across GK Icon and came into contact with Richard Lee whom I sent my request to establish a working partnership between us and GK Icon. I wanted GK Icon to establish a franchise in Uganda through us. Fortunately, Richard’s response was positive and encouraging and he was really impressed by our work.” Around 45 children aged between 6-16 have received equipment including gloves, kit, educational DVDs and water bottles.

There is no truth however that Richard Lee, who is currently recovering from a long-term shoulder injury at Griffin Park and will be hoping to get back into first-team contention as soon as possible, received a First Class Honours Degree in Ugandan Literature from the University of Kampala in exchange.
