Friday’s eagerly awaited West London exodus to Craven Cottage is looming, with 6,000-plus Bees heading upstream to witness a critical clash with implications at both ends of the table.
Fulham’s win at Huddersfield before the international break may have eased the Cottager’s relegation worries, but their fans will be hoping for a scarce home win against the Bees to boost morale after a hugely disappointing campaign – their first season away from the top flight has certainly been a rude awakening for their diehards.
Despite the ‘it’s your cup final’ jibes from Fulham fans, it is indeed true that the clash has become a ‘must win’ match after a wobbly few week for Brentford results-wise. The last minute leveller against Millwall last time out rescued Warbs and the players from slipping to consecutive home defeats, and with Ipswich winning at Watford, and Wolves snapping at our heals, the fight for a play-off place is intensifying. Put simply, we need a win!
The majority of the Bees players would have enjoyed some well earned R&R over the last ten days, although impact players, Moses Odubajo, Alex Pritchard and Stuart Dallas, have all enjoyed international call ups… Hopefully they all return to the fold fully fit and all fired up for the Good Friday Derby.
And as for the fans, well, after Good Friday’s celebrations last year (revive the joy by watching the video above), the day we clinched promotion to the Championship, we are all hoping that the Bees are back to their best, in which case, there could be a right Friday night Bees-up knees-up!
