I remember the first time I went to Brentford with my dad, 65 years ago. I was 6 and clutching my shilling entrance fee I stood in line with the other boys and when I got to the turnstile the operator wouldn’t take my shilling and I had to squash through with an older boy. This was for a cup game under floodlights and I remember how it took my breath away the colour of the green grass and the red and white shirts vivid colours at night. These were the days of Jim Towers, Francis and Billy McCloud but also the start of Brentfords slide into the lower reaches of the Football League. I live abroad now but I still follow the boys on the internet and look forward to the highlights on a Sunday, plus all the news. Its amazing that the Bees are now a world wide name with far flung supporters. After the match on Saturday I said to my Dad now long gone, so what do you think of that Dad, pretty good huh? He would have been looking down and probably also shedding a tear along with me.
Lovely memories – he’s in good company in our heavenly supporters club.
I’m sure he and my old man shared a chuckle as the two goals went in.
Because they’ve been with us every step of the way.

Great stuff Jim. The signs are there we stay true to what we believe in and what’s got us to where we are today. COYB
Great stuff.
