The day that Brentford Football Club will leave Griffin Park, its proud home for more than 112 years, is edging ever closer. Work has started on the club’s new stadium at Lionel Road, and if everything goes to plan, The Bees could have moved away for good in less than three years’ time.

Saying farewell to the club’s spiritual home is not going to be easy for any die-hard fan – Griffin Park holds a very special place in all our hearts – and when the day finally comes, and the last game has been played, I’m sure we will all spend a moment stood on the terraces, or sat in our seats, reflecting and remembering the countless matches and the roller-coaster of experiences we’ve shared through the decades.

The Big Book of Griffin Park will be launched in early December to provide the ultimate commemorative publication possible – it will not only be one of the largest Brentford books ever produced – containing a vast collection of photographs and memorabilia from down the years – it will also form THE essential reminder that will be treasured for decades to come.

As with the previous Big Books, there will be an advanced purchase name dedication offer, that will ensure Bees fans can include the name of family members past and present, and of friends and loved ones – if you buy the book in advance before the end of October via the club’s online shop, a free name can be added during the checkout process. Two additional names can be added per book purchased for an extra £10 per name. The remainder of the limited edition print run are expected to sell out quickly.

Readers of the matchday programme may have seen a handful of the stories and photos that have been unearthed, however, the book is crammed full of fascinating tales from every season Brentford Football Club have been at Griffin Park – from a postcard sent after the first match at Griffin Park, newly unearthed photos of the club’s first season here, stunning Edwardian crowd shots, through the rise of the club in the Twenties, Thirties and Fourties, all the way through to more recent achievments that some have dubbed the ‘second coming’ of The Bees.
