Football fans and politicians met up at The House of Commons to discuss the choice to stand at football. Dr Rosena Allin-Khan – Shadow Sports Minister – met up with over 60 fans from 41 football clubs to get their views on standing at football matches.
Beesotted were representing Brentford in this meeting – emphasising the fact that The Bees – who have had fans standing at their Griffin Park stadium for over 100 years – are looking for their new Lionel Road stadium (which is due to open in late 2019) is to become a flagship new-build venue with designated standing areas.
We spoke to Dr Rosena Allin-Khan as well as John from Crystal Palace fan group Holmsdale Fanatics, Gareth from The Anfield Wrap podcast and Phil from Spirit Of Shankley Supporters Group. John Darch from The Safe Standing Campaign. And Martin Cloake from Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust to get their thoughts on where we were currently with the standing campaign and where we go next to achieve our aim of fans getting a choice to stand at a match if they so want to.
