Is Mark Warburton set to leave the club?

Griffin Park has been in a frenzy as Times writer Matt Hughes broke the story stating Mark Warburton will be sacked at the end of the season.

The story claimed Brentford officials had held talks with Rayo Vallecano manager Paco Jemez about taking over the job should Warburton leave.

The journalist in question tweeted this after breaking the news.

Hughes’ tweets and story have set social media alight with discussion, with fans not knowing if Warburton will stay or go.

Warburton appeared on Sky Sports News discussing the rumours and tonight’s game with Watford, but didn’t directly address the story.

The press release issued by the club stated Warburton deservedly “turned the heads of other clubs”, meaning that they could well be expecting offers for Warburton’s services to come in soon.

Hughes’ statement included the word “sacked” sparking an image of Brentford cancelling Warburton’s contract prematurely and searching elsewhere.

Brentford in their statement confirmed that Warburton remains the manager, although there was no assurance that he would remain boss past the summer.

Warburton has confirmed his main focus is the team, and getting three points against Watford tonight.

Watford Preview:
