Bookmakers suspended betting on the next manager of Glasgow Rangers earlier today – with Mark Warburton and David Weir looking likely to take over at Ibrox.

Weir was a huge Gers fans favourite following his move from Everton in 2007, and if rubber-stamped as expected, the duo will face the huge task of resurrecting the fortunes of one of Europe’s most famous clubs.

Simon Leslie, from www.thegerstv.com and a member of the Rangers Supporters’ Trust, told Beesotted:

“Warbs and Weir are now without a doubt looking favorites to land the Rangers job. Feelings up north at the good side of Glasgow are positive with fans realising a fresh approach is essential, this option, of a manager with no prior links to the Gers and the Nine In A Row era, which has failed in the past. With Davie Weir as his side kick there is no doubt Warburton will be aware of the size of the task in hand – make no mistake – this is a ‘full squad rebuild’ job and Warbs’ organisation skills and exciting, attacking brand of football, combined with Weir’s defensive knowledge, could be ideal in an environment where second place will not be acceptable. “Step up and play Warbs!”

Brentford fans wish Mark Warburton and David Weir all the very best no matter where they manage next, but Glasgow Rangers must surely be a hugely exciting prospect.

We spoke about the rumours during the latest Beesotted podcast, which can be heard by clicking the link above.
