The FA Cup is upon us and Conference side Eastleigh visit Griffin Park desperate to try and cause an upset. Who are Eastleigh? And will they cause us any problems? We thought what best way to get the low-down on the opposition than ask opposition manager Martin Allen.
And in true mad dog-style, the ex-Bees manager gave us his thoughts on all sorts including his beef with Stephen Hunt who felt held back by Allen at Brentford. The excitement of Brentford’s FA Cup runs – with the away game at Southampton and the victory against Sunderland. We also asked him whether he felt his DJ Campbell Brentford team would beat the current Scott Hogan Brentford team – naturally the answer was yes.
A more difficult question was when he was asked to decide if he would he prefer to beat Brentford in the cup on Saturday or get to the Conference Playoffs with Eastleigh.
You can check the whole Martin Allen interview on this week’s Pride of West London podcast from the pub (click above) in which we also discussed the Norwich draw, the resounding Birmingham win as well as the opening transfer window – which has every team from Accrington Stanley to Real Madrid bidding for Scott Hogan apparently.
Plus we assess the other transfer rumours flying around – Ben Stevenson from Coventry … Sergi Canos from Norwich … and the Beesotted Director of Football panel pulls together the players they have scouted … and throws them into the pot … waiting for the decision maker to decide whether they will make the grade and be offered a Brentford contract.
Oh and Liberal Nick rants about FA Cup TV games.
Martin Allen interview comes in around 1 hour into the show.
