Brentford have re-signed free agent Moses Odubajo on a one year contract. The right back left Griffin Park for £3.5m in August 2015, to join Hull City, but following a long-term knee injury, he let his contract run down at the KCOM Stadium, and has been training with The Bees during pre season.
The Bees originally signed Moses from Leyton Orient for around £1m in June 2014, and although it was on a 3-year deal, an impressive first Championship campaign with Mark Warburton at the helm, big-money transfer speculation started to mount following the Bees’ failed play-off bid, and Steve Bruce swooped to take him to the Tigers. Odubajo was first choice right back throughout the 2015-16 season and Hull were promoted to the Premier League via the play offs.
The news of his re-signing for Brentford will be welcomed by many fans who remember what a quality player he was anywhere down the right flank – Moses was not only a solid defender, but his assists and goals really made him a firm favourite.
We should also acknowledge that the relationship that he has built with the club, and the coaching and medical staff, has clearly been a big factor in clinching his signature once again, and although he is not fully match fit just yet, Dean Smith’s squad has just got considerably stronger. There’s still 48-hours before the transfer window closes though.
Welcome back Moses, let’s hope your second spell at the club is as impressive as first time around.
