Brentford have today terminated Jake Reeves’ contract by mutual consent.
The 21 year old playmaker – who has been with The Bees for five years since leaving Spurs – looked unlikely to break through at first team level and both parties presumably agreed that his future lies elsewhere.
A number of Reeves’ 47 appearances came as substitute – and in another era and a lower divison he could have easily become a mainstay of our midfield. However we have progressed as a club and the quality of our midfield options is arguably at an all time high.
Reeves will have one famous memory from his time with Brentford FC – he was the recipient of an ugly and controversial shoulder barge from David Luiz whilst playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season
Beesotted have chatted to Jake on a couple of occasions and he always came across as a chirpy likeable character with a real passion for the game. We hope he has something lined up at another club where he might be able to get enough regular first team football to fulfil his ability.
Rumours that Jake’s decision to wear an alice band whilst playing pre-season was a significant factor in the decision to cancel his contract have not been confirmed or denied by the club.
