Billy Grant goes single Dutch – revealing the player Beesotted pinpointed Brentford were signing from Dutch Champions PSV Eindhoven a few weeks back
As Beesotted , Brentford have returned to Europe and as of Thursday morning – after his passing his medical on Wednesday evening – are very close to completing a deal to sign Florian Jozefzoom from Dutch Eridivise Champions PSV Eindhoven.
The 25 year old French Guianese winger – who flew in for a medical today (Wednesday) – made his debut for Ajax in 2010 and spent some time at NAC Breda and RKC Waalwijk before signing for PSV in 2013.
The player – who can play right and left wing although he prefers to play on the right – suffered from a serious cruciate knee injury a year ago, similar to the Hogan injury, which had him out of the PSV side for over 12 months.
As discussed in the Beesotted Pride of West London podcast below, up until then, he was an ever-present in the PSV team in their 2014/15 Championship Season – making 20 appearances in the League and Europa league, before being sidelined.
Since his return, Jozefzoom has yo-yod between the first team and PSV’s reserves – Jong PSV – with nine appearances towards the back-end of PSV’s 2015/16 Championship season.
He’s a player with place, as can be seen from his showreel below. Something that Brentford have been looking for to add a new dimension to the team.
Whether this will change Brentford’s view on signing Sergi Canos, we will see. Our sources say that Brentford are very much still in for the Spanish player. Beesotted’s view is – as the club is looking to add pace to the side, the addition of a player of the calibre of Jozefzooon AND Sergi Canos can only benefit us and add some much needed strength-in-depth to the Brentford squad. Also Canos can play all across the middle which is a bonus.
Brentford fans will be majorly comforted by the fact that Jozefzoon is already completely comfortable wearing red and white stripes.
Brentford have until noon Friday to get clearance for him to play Chelsea.
*** THUR 7am UPDATE – Jozefzoon has passed his medical test so signing is expected to be confirmed at some one on Thursday

Good shout from a couple of weeks ago!!
I thought Scott H had two ACL injuries and not an achilles?
Let’s hope he stays injury free if the deal goes ahead. It would be nice if we can get Canos as I think he’ll be worth a hell of a lot to the team, and the club in a few years time, but we desperately need a defensive midfielder now, and maybe a striker if this protracted SH move ever completes. All of a sudden it looks like many teams are looking at players that were/are on our radar, such as Ollie Watkins, Max Power and Matt Taylor (who I’ve heard has a £300k release clause). So we desperately need money to compete
Canoe, was ok, but nothing to get particularly excited about; he is another rather physically weak player and he won’t solve BFC’s deep seated problems
Compete, not when we only have 10,000 average crowds Rob.Boru wont like it,but the only reason we can compete at all in this division is because of a certain individuals financial input.
I agree that financially we are much weaker than all other team bar Rotherham and Burton. However i believe Canos wants to come to us over say Leeds, but we need close to £2.5m for Norwich to let him move on. We’d also stand a chance with Matt Taylor and the lad from Coventry, however we need the cash from the potential SH sale for us to be able to put in offers. We don’t pay the best wages but we do look after and play these guys and put them in the shop window.
we pay their medical bills too
Extensive medical bills! So lets hope Florian’s ACL has healed properly.
I was having a giggle at your Chris Kamara impression earlier Billy. What was the album on the CD’s used for your bribe 🙂
Ha. Been working on that Chris Kamara impression for a while. We did compilation albums. So I sent an assortment of about 40 different compilation albums up to Bradford including if I remember rightly including Best Swing, 100% Acid Jazz and probably 100% Pure Groove too.
Florian Josefzoon, has no great pedigree, so why the trumpets?
Is this the best the “management”, could come up with, wow!
Are you trolling? It’s difficult to tell sometimes with the drivel that comes out on social media from Brentford fans. I don’t think Brentford have ever signed anyone with a ‘great pedigree’ so don’t know why you’d suddenly expect us to now.
Anyway, it’s exciting that we’re addressing the lack of pace in the squad, but I think going to the Eredivisie is a risk for British clubs as the success rate of players coming over here is really hit and miss. That’s what we do though, so we shall see!
We still need that steel in the middle. Releasing Douglas was absolutely the right thing to do, but we have still never really replaced him. I don’t want us to be like Arsenal and be pining for a proper defensive midfielder for the next decade.
I don’t know what your slang term means, but if it means saying something you don’t like, tough, forums are for free speech, smoke that one!
His comments do make you Wonder Wjok, how long he has supported the Bees? With them mouldering (his word not mine) along, management and player wise, in the lower reaches of the football league for nearly all of our post war history. He certainly cant be hankering after our glorious past can he?
A very decent player who will add invevention to the team Matt Taylor would fit the bill as a goal scorer who we should acquire wether Scott leaves or stays a win on Saturday and all the doom merchants will do an about turn come on you bees
If Bilic isn’t bluffing, then BFC could be left with a handful of pfennigs; I think Hogan will get over not being bought by a Premier club, with time, but without anything to motivate him e.g.: with a club going nowhere slowly, he will see out his time at 50%. Mr Greedy, wants his pay day.
BFC , is still trying to turn every little pebble, to see if the next best thing e.g.: saleable product, will emerge from its crysallis, rather than trying to build a promotion team. All rather commercial and nothing to do with the true purpose of a clubs existence, fighting ambitions.
Exciting signing. Won’t cost very much and has been good enough to play a lot of games for PSV and Ajax. A very nice calculated gamble. We needed a winger, and now we have one. I am sure we’ll address a DM and another striker when opportunities arise. I would also like us to sell some of our surplus if we get a decent offer. We’re not going up or down this year, so best to maximise our FFP position and bed some new signings in so they hit the ground running next season.
We know very little about Jozefzoom. And yes it is a gamble. But that’s what we do. On the plus side, he’s played in the side that won the Dutch League two seasons running. Which is a good thing. On the down side, he’s been injured and hasn’t played that much 1st team football in the last year.
If he had played lots of 1st team football, he would be going to Everton or West Ham and not Brentford.
He’s got pace. And he’s ONE option. Doesn’t mean he’s the be all and end all. But once we have a fully fit side in place, this will be another good option off the bench at the very least.
Who is this guy ‘Boru’. Is he a real person or just some goon that likes to make stupid comments. One thing for sure is that he has a problem for every known solution.
I’m, unfortunately, seemingly related to you Carney, by your Mayo family name, so don’t be a cheap shot, be careful what you call me, as I am certainly not a gooner, though I admit to being a bit of a moaner, where incompetence reigns at BFC, so if you don’t like it , too bad.
The mutual faith, shown by a six month contract, is very progressive and innovative and is further evidence of the great things to come for the club.
“Boru” An irish king who hated the Danes(very apt, not the king bit). Or an internet troll who thinks hes intelligent,or someone who smells farts and enjoys it. Looks like you were right on one count David, could be two?
If Boru is related to me it could only be by accident.
The easiest thing in the world is to moan and criticise. The most difficult is to set course that is new, is pioneering, accept there will be mistakes, accidents and unexpected problems along the way, accept there will be uninformed and stupid criticism but still have the fortitude to forge on reach the goal that has been set. Benham and his group (on and off the field) are doing just that and it is tiresome to to read the drivel that some dream up. Constructive criticism is worthwhile and can add value. Destructive criticism and moaning is a waste of human effort.
Ok, gang up, brave little boys iof the playground, I’m ready for you!
Yesterday’s hopeless display by team and inept manager, is that what you are defending and I am criticising? Even “the other” blog, normally cast in ill judged and unjustified optimism over reality, is drenched in moans about the current setup, manager and team.
People like you, are the fools and airheads among supporters of the club, because you are shoring up, promoting and revelling in mediocrity and error. Ps, supporters were punching each other yesterday, a sure sign of a happy club.
Not defending them Brian, but whats new, i’m used to loosing and watching crap players and management, as a Bees fan over the years. MEDIOCRITY at best has ruled, but at least now at long last, we have someone willing to throw his money away in pursuit of a modicum of success, this as im sure you know is what i’m defending.By the way have you been blocked from commenting on “the other” blog, like a certain other individual from last season?
