Crawley defender Paul Connolly has been banned for five matches by the FA following his uncharitable fan-slapping hissy fit at Griffin Park recently.
The 30 year old journeyman reacted badly to a ball being thrown at him from the Braemar Road “Paddock” and decided to hand out his own form of over-excitable justice to a member of the crowd. Naughty boy.
The act was missed by officials but caught by TV cameras.
Connolly can still appeal against the length of the ban which basically rules him out for the remainder of the campaign but given that the FA stated last week that a three match ban would be “clearly unsufficient” he’s probably not going to get very far. His contract with Crawley runs out this summer.
Crawley face Orient at home on Friday in a game which could yet have some impact on the destiny of Brentford’s season.
