So the transfer window has opened. And if you believe the media reports flying around at the moment, Burnley have put in a bid for highly-rated Brentford central defender James Tarkowski.

As they say, there is no smoke without fire. However, with Brentford sitting tight a few points off the playoffs, they are in no rush to sell any of their key players.

And with Brentford making great strides in the Championship again this season with a clutch of ‘non name brand’ players, it’s only natural that clubs with bigger purse strings will come looking.

but these are way way off the mark from what we hear from our contacts in deepest Lancashire – with Burnley seemingly happy to employ a Wigan-esque policy of ‘unsettling of the player’ with unrealistically low bids, Forshaw stylee.

It must be a Lancashire thing.

Tarky, , is one of the highest rated players at the club. At the beginning of the season he was rated alongside Andre Gray who we sold to Burnley back in August. You can rest assure that the  club will be not looking to budge on selling him unless they see a figure of around £6m or so banded around – the sort of money they got for Gray from Burnley before the add-ons bringing the total up to £9m.

Brentford are in a difficult situation – with all players potentially up for sale if ‘the price is right’. This does not mean that the club wants to sell. But the predicament Brentford is in – they are still unable to play players wages of £20k + a week … the type of money being offered by teams with huge parachute payments.

The next few weeks will be interesting .. with players such as Judge … Jota .. Dean  … and Diagouraga all continually being linked with moves away from the club.

Will this be a month of consolidation for the Bees .. or a month of turbulence?

Only time will tell.
