Bees Ramp up Forward Chase.
Beesotted understand that Brentford are looking to sign Exeter forward Ollie Watkins.
Beesotted have been talking to our Exeter sources who believe the Bees are one of a number of teams looking to sign the promising young forward who scored this stunner in a local derby against Plymouth back in April during the League 2 clash:
Exeter are keen to hold on to the 20 year old which is unsurprising given his apparent talent.
Brentford wouldn’t be without competition though as he is being monitored by several others from around the Championship and Premier League
Interestingly, with wingers a priority for Dean Smith, Watkins isn’t the only player on the radar.
Word on the street has us linked with with a number of players including Crystal Palace startlet Sullay Kaikai and Jamie Patterson of Nottingham Forest – who has been on the clubs radar since January. Paterson scored for Huddersfield Town against the Bees in a 5-1 mauling during his loan spell with the Terriers
The move for Paterson looks all the more likely now that Van La Parra has completed his move from Wolves after a successful loan spell last season
Get your kits out.
The much anticipated Brentford kit launch happened this morning with the club revealing this seasons’ strips.
Bob the kitman has got his wish with a sexy black away kit whilst the home shirt has had mixed reviews with it’s bold red stripes.
As Bees fans are salivating at the thought of getting their hands on the new seasons attire, spare a thought for Segi Canos and his new Norwich team mates who have to wear this.
Manchester Utd poach Bees Starlet.
Earlier this week news started to come through that one of Brentford’s brightest stars was to depart for Manchester United. Josh Bohui – who had been at the club since he was 11 was offered a new contract earlier last season and a place in the Brentford B team – but has rejected it in favour of a move away.
Frustratingly for the Bees after six years development with the Brentford academy.
There have been fears that the clubs best young players could be tempted by the big boys at any stage with little compensation paid and this has been one of many reasons why the new Brentford B team was formed.
Beesotted have done a lot of research into the Josh Bohui transfer – talking to our academy contacts – and will be talking about it in more depth in the next Pride of West London Podcast. subscribe via ITunes
Woods out for the season!
If your about to enter panic mode then you calm down. It’s not Ryan “the ginger Pirlo” but Preston North End man Callum Woods. The 29 year old defender has suffered a serious knee injury during a friendly against League 1 Oldham Athletic.
Woods has torn his cruciate knee ligament and appears to have very little chance of kicking a ball in anger this season. The injury will be familiar to Bees fans as it is similar to that suffered by Scott Hogan.
No deal for Stan.
Stillian Petrov will not be making a playing return to Aston Villa after the midfielder’s heroic battle against Cancer. Petrov was forced to retire in 2013 after being diagnosed with leukaemia but didn’t let it beat him.
This summer he joined Aston Villa’s pre-season training camp and I’m sure most fans whether Villa or not would have loved to see him make a comeback but the club have decided not to give him a playing deal and have instead offered a non playing role.
Done Deals.
Grant Hanley has completed his protracted move to Newcastle United from Blackburn Rovers. The former Blackburn captain made his debut at just 18 years old but has opted for the Geordie Shores after signing a five year deal
Heading out the door though appears to be George Wijnaldum as he looks set to complete his move to Liverpool for a cool £25 million
Norwich have signed Northern Ireland Goalkeeper Michael McGovern. The former Hamilton Academicals ‘keeper was a free agent after his contract expired at the Scottish Premier League club before going on to star at Euro 2016 and has opted to join up again with former boss Alex O’Neil.
In another Goalkeeping move, Alex Bogdan has joined Wigan Athletic on a season long loan from Liverpool. The former Bolton man made just six appearances for Liverpool last season.
Jake Forster-Caskey has joined Rotherham Utd on a season long loan from Championship rivals Brighton. Forster Caskey is the step son of Brentford hero Nicky Forster. He went out on loan last season to MK Dons and was in the side as they were relegated by Brentford after a 4-1 victory for the Bees.
It would also appear as if James Tarkowski is being offered to Derby County to sweeten the deal that would see Jeff Henderick go the other way.
Its currently unclear whether or not this move involves any strike action or if he has asked for the huskies to join him.
and lastly Brentford entertain Kaiserslauten tomorrow in a friendly game at GP. Beesotted understand that they will bring a thousand fans including a few coach load of ultras. Standby for Pyro

Why would Josh Bohui stay with a club which no longer believes in the worth of its Academy players? It closed at the end of the season with no warning (at least not to the coaches or players) and with no game programme in place for the B team. Has anyone asked Josh Bohui if he would have left if the Academy had not closed? Please check facts before making him out to be some sort of disloyal player whose head has been turned by a badge. That is not Josh Bohui
If you listen to the latest podcast (https://audioboom.com/boos/4868957-new-signings-new-enthusiasm-beesotted-we-re-back-from-2016-summer-holiday-podcast) we talk about the Josh Bohui scenario. The info we got was from contacts in the academy world – not from the club.
Fro what we can gather, Josh was offered a new contract at the beginning of the year (before the academy was closed down) but rejected it. An offer came in from Man United three years or so ago that he did not take them up on .. this was widely known by the folk (parents, kids) in the academy from what we have heard.
The scout who brought Josh in was a guy called Shane. He was out of the Dulwich Hamlet youth network and scouted loads of kids from SW and SE London. Apparently he was very good. Then a shake up at the top of the academy happened and a new head of recruitment came in … things (from what we can gather) took a different turn as the vibe just wasn’t the same .. and Shane left to go to Norwich first and ended up at Man United as a scout.
He knew the potential of Josh as he was apparently very very close to him. So it is no surprise that Josh decided to refuse his contract and 6 months later ends up at Manchester United. We also heard that Chelsea have been monitoring Josh for three years now. As you know, Mourhinio is now at Man United.
As much as we feel the closing of the academy is a terrible thing as we were proud of the idea of seeing our own kids come through, until they can sort out this loophole where a smaller club can develop a kid for years then bigger and richer teams can poach them at the age of 15 and 16 and 17 for relative peanuts, it makes a mockery of the whole system.
Errr, my understanding is he was offered a contract and turned it down a la Bertie big bollocks.
Good luck to the lad but if he thinks he’s going to be the next big thing at Old Trafford then I fear he’s in for a reality check.
Best bet for these young lads is to drop down like Mawson or fight for your place.
