Just a quick one, our manager is Gary Rowett, not Gary Cotterill. All together good piece to read from the perspective of a Brentford fan.
I saw it a bit differently i’m afraid, sorry about that. I’ve seen experimental team selections on the fly 2 weeks in a row, slow starts, soft goals conceded, midfield out muscled and one player capable of scoring a goal. The inclusion of the routinely abject Vibe made no sense at all, and after some loose passing in midfield we were behind and chasing the game. Sure we were a bit unlucky and rallied, but they always had us where they wanted us, we were plucky losers at best. The side that won at BHA and QPR and home to Reading is a distant memory – why?
Struggling to see where the slump will be arrested if i’m honest.
BFC have , in the main, only beaten teams that are off form; anyone with a plan, composure and average ability, beat and will continue to beat BFC. Smith needs to go; evidence of him taking the club places, would have been evident by now and I think he has been afforded a fair go at the helm; so now, let him revert to the lower divisions, where he is reasonably capable.
Whatever else, DO NOT buy Akpom, who didn’t want to play for BFC, when he had a loan here. The really sad thing to see, is a player on terrific form, Hogan, being let down by the set up and some of the mediocre or worse teammates; hats off to his efforts (also Bentley) and constant commitment this season, although he may well go in January, which could really spell the crack of doom for the club’s season.
I think he may have said “If luck was a horse……….” lol
Sadly like RebelBee I saw it differently as well and I think more than a few are kidding themselves if they seriously think we played at all well.
Bjelland is dreadful at full back and so one-footed,neither Dean nor Egan were at their best, Bentley’s distribution was often at fault, and our 5 man midfield with 5 goals between them in 17 games were at times pathetic !! Yennaris is simply not good enough to play at this level, Sawyers a complete waste of space, some of Woods’ passing just woeful, and Vibe totally lost !!!
What was Barbet doing in midfield, when we have Machearan and KK plus Kaikai and Josh Clarke on the bench ???
How can you play VIBE or anyone in the Number 10 roll when you don’t have a target man ???
The relegation battle has started.
It’s easy to lose perspective after a bad run, and our club’s upturn over recent years has provided many incredible, memorable moments. That said it was only a few weeks ago that I walked out of Loftus Rd convinced that BFC was the club in the ascendancy and that only greater things were ahead of us. This may still come to pass and a few poor results in the championship is routine for all the clubs battling it out. I do however feel we are at a bit of watershed moment, is the strategy working? How do we grow and remain competitive through to LR? Is this head coach the one to take us further? Most importantly how do we keep the supporters on board through this evolution? There is an air of apathy around GP at the moment, grumbles about the progress of the team amplified by a feeling by some that BFC is losing hard earned close connections with the fan-base.
I’d take championship football all day long, just to be a decent side is enough for me, but that’s not where MB wants us to be. I doubt that standing still is an option, it’s either upwards or the unthinkable if we slip out of the division. The next weeks will be key, if we can stop the slump, win a few games and approach 2016 in a decent position, with hope for further strengthening in the Jan window. Every game seems critical but the ext 2 really are, for me at least one win is essential. We shall see.
I truly would go easy on your worries about, “MB”; I say, to hell with him, the investment he has made, does not ever mean , “I rule, I dictate”.
I have controversial views; I suspect, that the parting with MW, was a device, to preclude an, in the view of controlling factors, too early promotion to the Premiership. MW, could not fund a true Premiership scenario, at that time.
I believe, that an incalculable error was made , back then, not to throw a big buck behind the last real “manager “.
I like Smith, he is a good ,man, I like him, but not the manager to push BFC upwards
Losing Mark Warburton, was a big mistake on the part of MB; BFC would likely have gone on to great things, with such an all round good MANAGER; the club was very fortunate to have such a talented leader and foolish to machinate his departure.
For goodness sake I thought everyone had finally moved on from Warbo. Who knows, maybe he would have signed Joe Garner and Joey Barton for us if he had stayed…
What facts do you bring to the table, as MW, that astute operator, is now after Jota.
I hope that many supporters, have more loyalty to those who served the club well and don’t take the cheap way out and “move on”, to what, 1)Marinus, disaster 2) Smith, mediocrity and floundering!
If you chanced to watch the Patrick v Rangers game, last weekend, MW showed his class in overcoming a team which gave everything, but still fell to a last minute goal, a phenomenon not seen at BFC in an eon.
I’m well over Warbs but look back on that season as my best time ever supporting the bees. I also think DS is a lovely fella & would be so proud to see him succeed here. MB’s investment & interests are not served by us doing poorly so I see no conspiracy in our being where we are. Regardless I’m in for the duration & cannot understand others who have a nostalgic longing for the good ole days. Frankly they weren’t that good at all. Noades, Webb – no thanks! A new badge & the odd marketing balls up won’t dampen my love for this club!
Well said Rebel and Stuart, but there is no pleasing Boru, or is it Roderic? Remember his rantings from last season.
“Hobo”, aka “NB”, just stick to petty digs and slavishness, your “style”, guaranteed free of thought, opinion or information.
Pained as I am to admit it, but that angle shows Scotty was defo offside and sticks his toe out right in front of their keeper. Damn video confirmation.
