Brentford are rumoured to be in a bid to swoop for Walsall’s out-of-contract striker Will Grigg.
The 21 year old Northern Ireland International scored 20 league and cup goals in 41 appearances for Walsall last season, with 8 of these coming from the penalty spot – quite handy if we were to ever encounter another ‘Trotta moment’.
Being under 24, Walsall will be entitled to compensation with £300k being the figure being mooted at present.
Rumours started when Grigg, who has posted only 6 times on twitter since 2011, swapped follows with Adam Forshaw, Harlee Dean and Sam Saunders within the last 24 hrs … with Matthew Benham also being one of his followers.
Walsall were impressive last season coming close to mounting a late promotion challenge. With fellow striker Fabian Brandy rumoured to be going to Sheffield United in the close season, they may be hard pushed to maintain the same type of form next season if they lose both their key front-men.
Grigg used to play for Birmingham City back in the day but we’ll try not to hold that against him.
