Press reports from around Europe, confirmed by Beesotted’s twitter sources, suggest that Brentford have beaten Schalke in securing 28 year Danish old strike sensation Lasse Vibe

Beesotted have been talking for weeks about Brentford targetting a series of international strikers including one European striker with international credentials (playing for the German U21s still counts in our book). Looks like these strikers are now about to land.

Vibe – who has averaged just under a goal every two games across his professional career – was top scorer in Sweden last season scoring an eye watering 23 goals in 26 games for IFK Gothenburg last term . There is a show-reel of his goals here where he seems equally adept at finishing with both feet, including a couple of Jota-esque long rangers with his left foot (it’s not just beautiful hair that they have in common).

The capture of Vibe would be a real feather in the cap for Brentford’s management team and come as a relief to Brentford supporters who, due to the large and growing number of midfielders at the club, were starting to fear a 4-6-0 formation next year.

The Bees have also been heavily linked with Philipp Hofmann, 21, a lanky young German international who currently plays for Kaiserslautern and appeared at the recent European U21 Championships. The Hoffman deal is expected to be completed over the next couple of days with Kaiserslautern keen to do business promptly.

Brentford have been seeking a high calibre striker for the past year – with Andre Gray left to pretty well drag the team through the season on his own last term after an unfortunate injury to Scott Hogan and the similarly unfortunate acquisition of Big Nick Proschwitz.
