Brentford have today confirmed the widely touted arrival of young Everton forward Conor McAleny on loan until Monday 6th January 2014.

Uwe Rosler confirmed that Brentford had been tracking the player for the past 8-9 months and added ““He is a very versatile forward and I think he will add goals to our squad. He is a good finisher and doesn’t need many chances to score.”

Brentford fans have been calling for a young “fox in the box” to help complement our current striking options after glimpses of talent from the likes of loanees Jeff Schlupp and Saido Berahino over recent seasons.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, brought in to perform a similar role with mixed success at the end of last season, has recently signed for the New York Red Bulls.

McAleny leaves Uwe Rosler with a plethora of striking options alongside Clayton Donaldson, Farid El Alagui, Will Grigg and Paul Hayes as well as academy player Luke Norris.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see someone go out on loan soon if, as anticipated, McAleny becomes  a fixture in the first team squad.
