Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has boosted his squad for the promotiorun in with two surprise signings.

With the loan window slamming shut last week, Rosler has brought in two free agents to the club – one a return signing.

Gary Alexander – who had his contract mutually cancelled by Crawley Town on Easter Sunday – returns until the end of the season

The former AFC Wimbledon loanee told Ealing Hospital Radio “It’s great to be back at Griffin Park with the team in the promotion hunt. I regret leaving purely for monetary reasons last season but I’ve paid for an extension to my house now so I’m happy to return. It beats playing near the bottom of League Two anyway, which is how far I had fallen in quite a short space of time.”

Rosler’s other signing – brought in as defensive cover with Liam Moore returning to Leicester – is unknown Senegalese centre back Phil Opiantube. The former Cannes player, 32, has recently been plying his trade in the MLS for the Philadelphia Cheese.

Both players are due to travel to MK Dons today.
