BillytheBee questions goal machine Nouha Dicko’s premature recall from Rotherham and wonders if this is Uwe Rosler’s first power-move in helping out his ‘special friends’.

Rotherham are reportedly baffled as to why striker Nouha Dicko has been recalled early from his loan spell by Wigan boss Uwe Rosler.

With Dicko having scored 6 goals in his 5 games for Rotherham, including 2 against Wolves last weekend, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out what must be going on here.

Our opinion (and this is pure speculation we would hasten to add) is Rotherham are in a playoff spot in Division 1 and a real threat to Brentford who we all know Uwe has a soft spot for. Recalling him at the very least not only gives Rotherham manager Steve Evans a short-term headache but also helps Brentford out.

With that sort of scoring form, Uwe won’t have any problem finding a home for Dicko in January if he was to loan him out again. Whether he would loan him out to another of Brentford’s rivals, loan him to Brentford (if we wanted to take him) or keep hold of him is the burning question.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Dicko’s agent Christian Emile said:

“Nouha was never given the opportunity at Wigan despite proving himself in the Championship when he scored 10 goals on loan at Blackpool and Wolves.

“It has come as a complete surprise to me, Nouha and Rotherham that Wigan have decided to recall him today via Twitter.

“With Nouha’s contract expiring at the end of the season, I can only view this recall with a lot of suspicion.

“I hope that I am proven wrong and that the new manager has recalled him for the purpose of playing regularly.”

There are only two sensible reasons why Rosler will have recalled Dicko. He has to be either looking to integrate him into the Wigan squad immediately. Or he is looking to not only stop him being an immediate threat for Rotherham’s promotion rivals (ie. Brentford) … but also loan him out to another club come January 4th who will as good as guarantee him first team football – just like he was getting at Rotherham.

Trotta’s loan period ends in January. It is unknown whether or not the loan will be extended or whether Fulham will look to send him elsewhere. Trotta was always seen are a ‘Rosler player’. However, he has settled well into an unbeaten side as of late, scoring a few goals in the process, and it will be a real shame to break up a winning formation if he were to go.

Recalling Dicko and either not playing him or not loaning him back out won’t go down well with the player and his agent. Yes his contract expires at the end of the season but surely the best way to gauge an out-of-favour player’s worth is to keep him on the pitch as much as possible.

The clue will be in whether or not Dicko is in the Wigan squad for their game against Birmingham on Boxing Day or Burnley on Sunday.

If not, maybe we may see him making his way down south for another loan spell after New Years day? Or maybe Uwe may fancy doing an unfancied lower table team like Sheffield Utd a favour and loan him to them until the end of the season in their quest to take points off our rivals.

You never know …. funnier things have happened
