Beesotted contributor Billy Taylor scours the internet to dig up the latest Brentford related gossip from Twitter, Facebook, the Griffin Park Grapevine (GPG) and more.

The last week has seen more Scott Hogan controversy. On the plus side, Brentford have confirmed the signing of Dutch winger Florian Jozefzoon. Bees fans have given their reactions to the weeks’ events.

Scott Hogan

The big news that hit Saturday night following Brentfords 2-1 loss away at Wigan (in which Hogan once again didn’t feature) was that Scott had received a late night call from his agent the day before the match for the second week running notifying him a bid from another club was imminent. Brentford’s Director of Football Phil Giles was left furious with the conduct of opposition clubs on the matter.

Giles: “Before the Newcastle game, Scott was meant to be involved. On Friday night, he got a call saying a club were going to make a bid. It’ll be done on Saturday night.

“This week, he trains all week. He had a slightly tight hamstring. He was going to be involved – the same thing last night happened.

“He got a call saying there were things moving and he got a call and I got a call. No criticism of Scott.

“We could (set a deadline) and it’s tempting to do that and have a Brentford transfer window. Maybe clubs will look at that. It’s disrupting our season,”

Dean Smith also confirmed Hogan was available to play and also seemed a little frustrated by the situation.

The news left Brentford fans outraged with the conduct of both bidding clubs and Hogan.

Despite the pressure from West Ham and other interested parties , Dean Smith has reiterated that Hogan has a valuation and Brentford will not back down on their asking price.

Florian Jozefzoon

Brentford have announced the signing of Dutch winger Florian Jozefzoon form PSV – a signing that Beesotted have been keeping under wraps for a few weeks now.

Although delighted to welcome a new signing to the club.

lush55: watching the videos, jeez he is fast and got eye for goal….quite excited about this actually!

Some fans do seem bemused about the details of the signing, others think it may be a master stroke. Jozefzoon has joined on a  initial 6 month contract with the option of another

LEETHEBEE: The length of his contract is bonkers. Surely this would have come from his side as if we’d seriously been tracking him we’d of tied him down to something to at least put us in a position to make a return on him should he excel.

KEVALUTONBEE: Welcome aboard Florian.
Quite like the approach with this deal. Its almost try before you buy in some respects

BEES66: bonkers? you mean careful, it’s a risk him and us seem to have agreed, no problem with that myself..

LEONARDO: I think the contract reflects also what Ted Knut tweeted yesterday that he is a huge gamble. I’d imagine the costs are low so if he fails to make the grade or breaks down with major injury then not too much is lost. If he does make the grade he is a cheap signing. So its a win-win.

Sergi Canos

Many Bees fans still want to see Sergi Canos return to Griffin Park. But the recent signing of a winger has given them the impression this concludes our interest in the Spaniard but thats not the case.

Its been a frustrating few weeks for Brentford fans, team and management not knowing whether Hogan will stay or go. However, with the first signing of the window done and the signs that the transfer window will be pretty much concentrated in and around the final day –  Tue 31st January –  as we discussed on the Beesotted Pride of West London Podcast this week (click above) there will hopefully be a few more chinks of light to be found at the end of this long dark tunnel.
