A visit to Derby saw Brentford notch up six post-lockdown wins. The Bees are now totalling seven wins in a row as they continue to bear down on West Bromwich Albion who dropped two points against Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Billy Grant and Dave Lane spent (more than) a few moments reliving the matches at the weekend, mulling over the weekend’s results & working out how they have affected Brentford’s promotion charge.

They also looked forward to Fulham’s crucial game against West Brom on Tuesday. Sammy from Fulhamish Podcast came on do discuss the dilemma Fulham have – handing the possibility of automatic promotion straight into the hands of Brentford’s if they manage to take three points off West Bromwich.

We also spoke to John Lee from the Preston Gentry about the crunch match on Wednesday with Brentford battling for an automatic promotion spot and Preston still an outside shout for playoffs.

Five Thirty Eight Championship Predictions Sun 12th July.

Plus we pored over the Five Thirty Eight Championship predictions whilst looking forward to the midweek fixtures.

Leeds are still predicted to pick up seven more points (two wins and a draw against Barnsley, Derby and Charlton) to finish top of the league on 91 points.

West Brom are predicted to pick up five more points (one win, one draw from Fulham, Huddersfield and QPR) to finish second on 86 points (one point down on what was predicted last week).

And Brentford are predicted to finish third on 84 points after picking up six more points (two wins from PNE, Stoke and Barnsley).

Therefore, if the Bees win all three matches it will go against the grain, upset the apple cart and heap pressure on West Brom all the way until the final minute of their final match.

With WBA needing seven points to gain promotion, the race for the top is getting tight and the West Brom v Fulham match is pivotal – although Huddersfield and QPR can also play their parts.
