Brentford have given “reluctant permission” to approach Uwe Rosler about the vacant manager’s job at the DW Stadium acoring to Bees’ CEO Mark Devlin.
Talks are thought to be taking place between Wigan Chairman, Dave Whelan, and Roler – with the Latics’ owner telling the BBC: “I’ve had a good look around and I’ve had very good reports on him… He’s obviously a former Manchester City player and lives in the area. He’s the type I’m looking for and I’m determined to get an agreement… I’m told he’s mad keen to come and I have to say, Brentford have been very good in their dealings. They are obviously reluctant to lose him but they’ve been very, very helpful.”
The Brentford board will not be looking forward to developments in the next day or so, and with the team heading north ahead of the FA Cup Second Round clash with Calrlisle United on Saturday, they may be doing so with Mark Warburton in charge.
Uwe has got a big decision ahead of him and, if he were to go, Mathew Benham will no doubt have already started looking at replacements just in case.
Ian Holloway would be my personal choice if it comes to that after taking both Blackpool and Crystal palace up to the Premership.
