Brentford beat Crystal Palace 3-2 – a score that was more comfortable that the scoreline suggested.
With Palace excited for the new season … selling out their allocation of 1600 tickets, the match was quite strangely deemed all ticket .. which added somewhat to the pre-season anticipation for the big games to come.
An entertaining game saw Douglas take the lead in the second half before Andre Gray made it two with a well taken goal.
That goal seemed to wake Palace up who got a goal back within a minute by Murray … and equalised moments later with Button saved Ledley’s shot and Chamakh scoring the rebound.
There was plenty more action before Odubajo scored a wonder goal … one that will be talked about at Griffin Park for many a day.
The ball came out to Odubajo on the wing who controlled it with his chest. It looked like he had slightly lost the ball but with Ward advancing towards him, he lofted the ball over his head .. rounded him .. ran towards the box … cut around Scott Dann .. and banged the ball home.
The Bees had chances to increase their lead .. but held out to win 3-2 … Yet another convincing impressive pre-season display .. and sets things up nicely for the first game of the season.
