This much lamented, wonderful stand could hold more fans than the whole of Griffin Park’s current maximum capacity. Built in the 1930s to house the 30,000-plus top flight crowds which flocked to watch Harry Curtis’ Bees – and where many current fans of a certain age fell in love with Brentford – the proud old relic was ripped down in mid-80s for financial reasons, making way for a shoe box-sized stand and some nondescript  flats.
Is there any way someone can point me in the right direction in getting a picture of the old royal oak stand at Brentford please . My partner is 50 on the 2nd of feb and we are trying to get a copy of the picture above , it has to be large enough to hang in our lounge ! would love it if you could help . Thank you Rachel goswell
If you buy the ‘Come on You Brentford’ charity single I will gladly send you the original image to have printed out… all funds go to Philippines Relief
Hello , just seen your message , will gladly buy the charity single to get a printed out image of the old stand . How do I go about this ? sorry for late reply
Before the pylon (floodlights previously ran along NR/Braemar roofs)the little ‘square area’ at the LHS (nearest Braemar Rd)was often choc-a bloc. Depending on how full, a good indicator of attendance.
Who are Brentford playing in the picture? Is it the Bolton FA Cup game from the 70s
We’re no sure what game that is Mark, sorry.
