Sunderland striker Danny Graham is rumoured to be set to sign for Brentford.

The striker, who signed for Sunderland for ÂŁ5m, spent half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough – scoring 6 goals in 18 appearances. He was expected to make the move to Boro permanent – a price of ÂŁ1m being banded around – but the ex-Chelsea Boro head honcho Aitor Karanka decided against bringing him to The Riverside.

The striker, who Mark Warburton no doubt knew very well from his time at Watford where he scored 38 goals in 91 games, earned a ÂŁ3.5m move to Swansea before his move to Sunderland.

Since moving to Wearside, his goals have dried up – drawing a blank for Sunderland before being loaned out to Hull where he scored a solitary goal.

Boro fans were all very complementary of the striker. Whether that was because of his work rate. Or whether it was because the Newcastle fan publicly slated Sunderland … only to join them for not too shabby bucks a little while later.

“When fit he is very useful. Good hold up play. Excellent in the air and works his socks off. Needs support around him though as he is not the quickest. You got him until January? Scored 6 in 18 for us but was not for for the first 5 games and then scored 6 in 13 so a decent ratio”

“Decent Championship striker. Will score goals but he is not prolific. Will get around 15 per year. He needs decent service in the box. He lacks pace but is OK in a front 2”

“He will score goals once he is up to speed. Might be a few weeks off match fitness though. Great signing for yous”

“I wish we had taken him back instead of Vossen”

“He’s good. A better player than some care to admit. I’d have been happy if he’d stayed at Boro another season. Karanka likes him, too, but I think Vossen was preferred by Gill and Gibson who also have a say in who joins the club.”

Saturday’s match against Derby is bound to see a slight Brentford team rejig with Alan McCormack taken off injured against Bolton – Odubajo is likely to move to right back. This game could see Arsenal loanee Jon Toral start who once again looked quality when he came on at the weekend.
