As exclusively revealed by Beesotted, Brentford have signed Sporting Club de Portugal forward Betinho.

The first clue to a new signing appeared when when Matthew Benham tweeted his traditional musical clue … E=MC2 by Big Audio Dynamite … other sources (including a photograph of Betinho on the plane winging his way over to the UK) indicated that it is highly likely that Brentford will have a Portuguese star join the the new Spanish Brentford recruits after the international break.

Since then, we have had confirmation from our contacts in Portugal that the deal is definitely done. 100% signed, sealed and delivered. Bethino is a Brentford player for the season.

The highly rated forward who signed for the club at the age of 11, worked his way up their youth ladder making 3 appearances for the Sporting 1st team and 49 appearances for Sporting B team who play in Portugese Div 2 (Greg Dyke will be happy) between 2011 and 2014 – scoring 16 goals.

He recently had an ill-fated loan to Portugese Primera League club Vitoria Setubal where he made 8 appearances but failed to get on the score sheet.

Betinho remains contracted at Sporting Club de Portugal until 2018 with a reported €60 mill release clause in his contract. Needless to say, that would have to be revised if the player is to have any sort of career outside of Sporting Club de Portugal.

He joins Brentford on a season long loan.

Check out the wee video of what Mr Betinho gets up to on the pitch …. not bad for a young lad.
