If you haven’t done so already, as a die-hard Bees fan, you really need to pencil Sunday 26th May 2013 into your diaries. Nope it’s no the date of the play-off final at Wembley, nor is it the day that the Championship fixtures are released so we can check when our matches with QPR are scheduled for 2013/14… but it should be a special Griffin Park celebration none-the-less.
A veritable feast of Bees Legends, including many of the squad that won promotion with Brentford in 1999, will be descending upon Brentford in aid of Brentford shirt sponsors’ designated charity, Brightsky, which was set up to help disadvantaged people in the local community.
Bees favourites including: Robert ‘Ooooh Bobby Taylor in the back of the net’ Taylor, Paul ‘Gibbo’ Gibbs, Scott ‘Alan’ Partridge, ‘Big’ Ben Burgess, Gavin ‘Hair Bear Bunch’ Mahon, ‘Iron, Like A Lion, It’s…’ Brian Statham, Danny ‘The Best Full-back-In His-tor-ee’ Boxhall, Paul ‘The Colonel’ Abrahams, Kev ‘Shearer’ O’Connor and Big Darren Powell will pull on a red and white shirt once more and cast our minds back in time.
Gurdev Jassi, owner of Skyex, hopes that the proceeds from the match against a non-Bees All-Star team will be used to help train local young people with new skills and give them with better chance of seeking employment.
So, no matter how the season finishes for the Brentford Class of 2013, make sure you get down to GP on the last Sunday in May to cheer on some Bees of old and help raise some funds for a great local charity.
