Brentford midfielder Sam Saunders has this afternoon announced that he has agreed a new two year deal at the club.

Saunders – one of our most creative players – spent large parts of last season out of the starting eleven but his contribution when given time on the pitch has merited his new deal.

He told his twitter followers this afternoon “I am delighted 2 have agreed a 2yr contract. love it here and very happy it’s sorted, fantastic bunch of lads and we have unfinished business” – great news for those who consider Sam to be the love of their lives (possibly less good news for their wives).

Team-mate Antoine Gounet, on the bench at Wembley recently, will however be departing Griffin Park over the summer. The French goalkeeper – who apparently  just turned up unannounced at the training pitch one day – has been unable to dislodge Simon Moore or Richard Lee from the first team. He recently tweeted – “Big thanks for your support, appreciate it! #bees I hope the supporters in my future team will be as nice as you”. Good luck Antoine.

Harry Forrester has been offered new terms but is yet to sign a new deal. The mercurial midfielder is believed to be considering offers from other clubs and has been linked with the likes of Ipswich Town, Burnley and former club Aston Villa.

Brentford are also believed to be keen to tie down Harlee Dean (we love Harlee Dean) and Adam Forshaw to lengthened contracts after a number of impressive performances last term.
