Sky Sports News has broken the news that Uwe Rosler has left Brentford to join Wigan Athletic. It was thought that the announcement wouldn’t be made until Monday, however, it would appear that Rosler has agreed personal terms with Latics’ owner Dave Whelan and he will be at the New Den this afternoon rather than in Carlisle.
On behalf of Brentford fans Beesotted would like wish Uwe every success at Wigan Athletic and thank him for his time. On a personal note, we think Rosler was a good manager and even more importantly a good bloke. He was incredibly fan oriented (how many managers go drinking in The Green Man, Wembley with fans before cup finals). We struck up a very good relationship with him and he would put in a friendly phone call every now and then in his time as manager or buy us a beer at the bar.
Today Rosler told Beesotted “Brentford will always be special to me. Good luck for today”.
More of a worry is Wigan with their moneybags chairman poaching Forshaw in January. Not unthinkable. But that’s the nature of being a lower league club unfortunately.
Shame he’s off. But we wish him all the best. Brentford now need to crack on and finish off what he started.
For the last time.

Couldn’t really have come at a worse time. Very frustrating when a manager leaves when the team is doing well but understandable, as when a team is doing badly, they are always the first to get the push. Good luck Uwe, let’s hope we aren’t adding you to the ever-growing list of what-might-have-been seasons.
Let’s face it there is no great time for your Manager to leave – especially when he’s been ‘nicked’ by a bigger club. I have to laugh that the not so long ago non-league Wigan are now classed as a bigger club especially having stood on their grassy bank away terrace one friday evening for a league game against us in the early 90’s – but that is another story.
It amazes me how quickly players and managers profiles change in the professional game. A couple of months ago – some hot heads were calling for Rosler’s head. A lot of us were ambivalent about him. An 8 or 9 game winning streak and now most fans are probably sorry to see him go. I for one predicted on this website that I didn’t think he’d be with us beyond this season although to be fair I didn’t think he’d go in the way he did.
For me though – the Manager suddenly leaving, was just what Mark Warburton was brought in for – so that there isn’t the sudden void and change of footballing philosophy that a new Manager / regime could bring. I would hope that Warburton has been identifying potential candidates long before Rosler’s departure so that the change can be relatively seamless. The candidate for me must not only believe that the academy / youth set up is central to Brentford’s philosophy and future but also back it up by giving the kids a chance to break through. A lot of Managers state the former but don’t do the latter! To his credit Rosler tried to. Let’s hope some of those youngsters can show him what he walked away from next season in the Championship!
I guess I’ll get over it, but at the moment, I haven’t felt this low since we lost to Doncaster…
Don’t mind him going just hope he doesn’t come and nick players in January. Anyone thought paul tisdale could be the right replacement?
