Brentford’s Director of Sport, Mark Warburton, is emerging as the leading contender to replace Uwe Rosler as Brentford manager – with an announcement expected to be made at Griffin Park on Tuesday morning.

Warburton – who turned down the chance to join West Bromwich Albion earlier in the year – has many high-profile football connections and, until recently, his company, NextGen, ran a junior Champions League tournament for UEFA.

It would be an unusual step to appoint Warburton as first team manager as, until know, owner Mathew Benham has preferred the Continental method of having a first team coach working alongside a senior director who reports to the Board, however, it is clear that Benham and Warburton share the same ethos and vision for the club, therefore a restructuring of the existing set-up may be considered.

The announcement is due at 10am on Tuesday 10th December but could there be a last minute twist to the tale maybe with one of these more left field choices coming in to work alongside Warburton or even one of the current coaching staff stepping up?
