Brentford have today offloaded striker Paul Hayes, 29, to Crawley until April 7th in time for tomorrow’s match against Yeovil Town (against who he missed a penalty on his Brentford debut).
The crafty attacker joined Brentford on a three year deal in August but has failed to really make his mark at first team level where he has scored six goals so far this term.
Hayes joined The Bees from Charlton Athletic – where fans pointed to a great understanding with Bradley Wright-Phillips, although the pair are yet to feature alongside each other for Brentford.
To Beesotted, Hayes has always looked like a player who needs a run of games to find form and fitness, and this has never really happened during his time in TW8. His last game for us was at home to Stevenage on 12th Feburary where he missed two sitters and was substituted just after the hour mark.
It is unclear yet whether Uwe Rosler is hoping that Hayes can find form and fitness and return to Brentford in better nick, or whether the return of Farid El Alagui to training has pushed the striker further down the pecking order.
