Seven games to go for the season. Is it panic stations for Brentford? Some people think it is. Others – not. The Beesotted crew met in the virtual joint with few guests to have a very frank discussion on Brentford’s spluttering promotion run-in in a rather fiery podcast.
In the house joining Billy The Bee Grant, Dave Laney Lane and Matt The Allard Allard were Paul Royal Oak Bee Grimes, Dave Lincs Bee McLaughlin and Paul T The Bee
On the discussion board:
- Is the Brentford squad good enough for promotion?
- Did the Bees make a mistake in not strengthening ?
- Thomas Frank out, in or let’s see?
- Who would be a good person to come in and give ‘Frank a hand’?
- Could we miss out on playoffs?
- Is Brentford too wedded to stats?
- Brentford’s financial position if we don’t go up
- Spending lots of money to finish 3rd and back in the Championship.Plus loads more

same old same old brentford ambition is only in there head to many bad decisions on the field and management of players ,subs not used when they should be
why is it that in all my 60yrs of being a brentford supporter they had chance of promotion last season which we all know . never happened now this season it looks like the same thing will happen again to go on a 21 game unbeaten and the how they are playing now we all know that they dont want promotion what i cant understand is why the owner cant get another share holder in who has the resourses to buy top money players and pay better wages for the players the fans are not stupid just tell them the truth
Its easy, just find a money tree and go and buy Harry Kane, Mo Salah, etc. Seriously, as hobbo says some fans need a reality check. We are a small club with a small fan base punching above our weight and without Mathew Benham we would be scrabbling around the bottom of the EFL. After fifty years of supporting the club we are now in a far better position than I ever expected to see.
In the 17 league games since 01.01.2021, Brentford have made 67 substitutions, just under 4 per game. The ‘earliest’ has been on 56 mins, the latest on 90+2 mins. In only one game (Stoke 27.02) have the subs changed the game in a positive way (were drawing, ended up winning). On 2 occasions the we’ve gone from winning to drawing after the changes have been made. All of the other occasions have seen substitutions making no change on the final outcome of the game compared to to the situation when they were made. Perhaps substitutions are made to prevent injuries, etc; they don’t appear to be made in order to change the game.
Can you guess which 4 players have been subbed on and which have been subbed of the most this year?
Message to some of our truly ungrateful fans(Same old names) be very very careful what your wishes are for our club ,we were National league at best before Benhams financial input ,just let him and his management team get on with running our club as they see fit, after all they have done a f_____g good job so far, best in my near sixty years supporting the Bees.
This was a difficult listen. The reasons to get behind the team, manager, DoFs and owner are many and well justified. I think the negativity on this issue of the podcast, whilst understandable in some ways is totally unjustified and really unhelpful. Was there really a debate for 30mins on bringing in coaching help at this stage of the season? Jody Morris? Do me a favour. Did some say our squad was poor? And look at the comments above.
