Two teams lacking in confidence were playing each other.
Bees were hoping to kick back from the 4-0 Wednesday drubbing. Derby hadn’t won since Boxing Day.
After going 1-0 up Bees let in 3 goals in 10 mins to lose the match.
We speak to elated and dare we say it, rather surprised Derby fans and despondent Brentford fans in the pub after the match
I don’t blame smith I blame Benham for putting us in this position get rid of the style of management & go back to what is was before you can’t let the players go that they have &I not replace them
So Valid, well said! That person scuppered last season’s real chance of promotion; it was a disgrace to impose his, now discredited methods, half-way through a very successful season; it was only the fantastic character, loyalty to the players and skill, that enabled Mark Warburton to push on as he did, with his management team, in the face of out and out undermining ; that person , could have had confidential talks with MW, to prepare the way for adjustments for the following season so term was no need to publicly say heirs tenure was over half-way through the season; no one of decency, would have rewarded MW’s success, with a public ultimatum, “my [bizarre] way, or the highway”.
Look at the mess now, it is all of the statistical “genius”‘s making; he was so involved with his favoured Danish investment, that he couldn’t even check that the pitch was right for the start of the season; he employed a disaster as a manager, press ganged and as a result, lost our excellent Youth Team manager, into a role as that horrible term, “head coach” aka powerless poodle, and as a result, lost his services to BFC.
How can you sell, ALL the great players from last season, bar one or two, who will surely be joining them and heading for the door pronto in the Summer, after this fiasco and bringing in statistical flops, who can’t aim straight or shy tackles, or defend like shadows; there has been zero progress and HUGE regression. What a mess!
Now BFC fade away, in ignominious defeat after humiliating defeat, towards the basement, when, without the meddling last season and its disastrous consequences, BFC had the best chance of going up for decades; I believe that that man did not want us to go up at that point, as it didn’t fit his schedule for the ghost stadium, if it ever happens; whatever the motives, I feel angry at the bungling mess that has resulted.
Roderic, that is quite possibly the biggest load of tripe I have ever read!! I don’t even know where to start as virtually every point you made is either factually incorrect or just twisted beyond belief to fit your completely misguided hatred of MB. Yes mistakes have been made but to suggest it’s through some sort of intentional egotistical sabotage is just bizarre.
Mr Atkinson, please at least take the effort to state your counter arguments , or are your too lazy or arrogant to do so? What mistakes are you admitting occurred; I am interested to know.
Every pundit, that speaks on the subject, eg Sky, calls last season’s decisions by the “great” one, as wrong headed; the “Derby Telegraph” called them “bizarre” and ill judged, before yesterday’s debacle unfolded.
I “hate”, my dear fellow, you clearly hate me; that’s ok, you are from the owner’s apologist brigade, who will forever, depressingly doff their caps to that person, whatever blindingly stupid decisions he makes. Please respond, I would love to hear a detailed argument from you!
Ok, I have been a Bees fan for over forty years, not going to argue, everybody has their opinions, trust me, yes it has been a nightmare since the new year, but without Matthew Benham, we would have folded, good times are ahead.
Well said Roderic….it’s about time Brentford woke up and smelt the coffee. I feel so sorry for Judge playing in such a poor side. He needs to leave and make a career for himself in a decent side…how much longer can he go on propping up the rubbish that turns out next to him. Dean hasn’t got a clue who to pick next. The midfield is non existent and we certainly don’t have a striker…this can’t go on much longer
Things are not looking great at them moment it is true, though I am still content with our current position, especially when looking back over the last 40 years that I have followed the Bees. However, I said at the start of the season that this year would be the one that we were expecting last year. We must survive in this division and then push on. At the moment, though mid table is fine, it has eerie similarities to 1993, i.e. a complete collapse in the second half of the season.
Like the comments above, I also said last summer that you cannot get rid of a quality management team that we had last year and not suffer ill effects. Yes we need to sell, that I understand, but there is no evidence at all that the current management has the contacts or skills to identify good replacements. They may have, but it has not been demonstrated at all yet.
Also, just what is happening with the stadium. Lots of consultation, an appeal against the CPO and then ….. nothing. No news, no forecasts, just nothing. I may have missed it, but I have searched and found nothing about it at all. Is everything ok??
I reckon Benhams pulling the plug on his finances, is cutting his losses, and is going to let us fester in the lower reaches of the football league, can you blame him, its what SOME of our fans deserve.GET THOSE BUCKETS OUT BOYS?
