Callum Elder – Leicester City’s Australian left back – is set to sign for the Bees on loan after penning a new long term contract with the current Premier League Champions. image The 21 year old left back came through the Foxes Academy before getting a taste of first team action when he went on loan to Mansfield in the 2014/15. After initially signing for a month, his performances led to Mansfied extending that loan deal for the season. Last season Elder gained further first team experience when he was sent on loan to Peterborough Utd in January. He went on to make 21 appearances for the Posh and scoring once. Elder has also represented the Australian National side at U20 level and is set to sign a new long term deal with the Foxes. The Peterborough Telegraph have stated that Posh have given up on their pursuit of Elder and Barry Fry – Director of Football at the League one club – is quoted as saying: “We tried hard for Callum and he indicated he wanted to come back to us.” “But he has now signed for a new contract at Leicester and it has been decided he will play in the Championship this season. I understand he will sign for Brentford.” Dean Smith has been quoted several times this season that he is after a replacement for Jake Bidwell as Tom Field is currently the only natural left back at the club.
