Hot on the heels of the victory at Forest, BillytheBee chats to Sam Brown (@sambrownxx), presenter for Lions Live Radio about camouflage kits, Katy Perry’s lingerie and Tamer Hassan taking out Danny Dyer.
What has been your favourite Millwall game.
Ooh this is hard a one. I have so many memories of watching The Lions. I can say that it is always an emotional rollercoaster. The Lions never do it the easy way. The semi-final at Old Trafford will always be a day I remember. It was such a great occasion and it felt like it was our cup final.
I also like travelling the country to the different grounds and as a kid my Dad would always take me to see Millwall against Peterboro at London Road. Still to this day I recall eating chips off my programme. It was such a cold Tuesday night but one of the best!
You managed to nick a draw with Blackburn in midweek with a spirited comeback with only 10 men. Good match?
Its been a really frustrating week. The last 20 mins was a great match and what a come-back. However, the red card for Wilkinson on the 61st minute just added to the pain of the decisions that went against The Lions on saturday away to Watford. Many neutrals will say its easy to blame the ref but the decisions never seem to go for The Lions at all. Its so frustrating and proves so costly.
So how has the Millwall revival been under Holloway ?
Ian Holloway is a great character. Kenny Jackett was at Millwall a long time and his shoes were always going to be hard to fill. It was actually Kenny jackett who convinced Ollie to come to The Den. Ian is great for the club. He understands the club and its passion and what Millwall is all about. After the demise of Steve Lomas, The Lions were in a very bad place and Ollie has given the club its passion back and above all belief.
Last season you just managed to stave off relegation. Your results this season have been a bit patchy but you’ve had wins against Leeds, F*lham, Blackpool and Cardiff. Are you now better equipped to deal with life in the Championship this season?
The Championship is one of the hardest leagues in football. Its mentally and physically tough week in and week out and anyone can beat anyone. Millwall will finish in a higher position this year and we wont be in a relegation scrap. The spine of the team is there, every player is playing for the shirt and we will get results.
I’ve been to the old Den loads of times. You are probably too young to remember it. Was quite a …. er …. lively place. I remember one year when Paul Roberts, who used to play for Millwall, was playing for us and scored against you. He made the mistake of celebrating for about 10 seconds before a load of characters scaled the fence and knocked him out. There was also time when a Millwall fan threw a hand grenade onto the Griffin park pitch back in the 60s. Millwall often gets a bad name and I know it’s not all darkness down at The Den with a lot of positive stuff going down there.
Saturday is going to be an amazing day and Millwall is so welcoming. You will see the lionesses, fans, soldiers and a whole range of pople collecting for charity on saturday for the armed forces. You may also come across the food bank which is a great success and the supporters donate so much food every home game. Millwall do many good things and if you havent watched the charity video yet , I think you will be impressed. The Lions wil also be wearing the commerative shirt on Saturday, the shirt sold out within an hour and all proceeds will go to Hedley Court.
Here’s our made in Millwall section
Tamer Hassan or Danny Dyer?
Danny is a favoruite of mine from the football factory days but because Danny is West Ham it has to be Tamer!!
Scroobius Pip or Katy Perry?
I Love Scroobius Pip, great guy and so orginal. Sorry Katy.
Reckon you’ll ever see East Enders Mo Oldman in a pair of Millwall lingerie?
Well she might for charity!!! Millwall fans arre always up for doing good deeds
Theo Phapitis or Karren Brady?
Oooh thats a tough one, Theo. Love what he did for the club as Chairman and he’s such a good guy.
Head to head, Millwall are just shading it winning 18 games to the Bees’ 17 with 16 games drawn. Do you reckon you’ll keep your lead?
Millwall will be ready for Saturday and its going to be electric. It will be tight but if the lions can get the opening goal they will go on and win.
