The last few weeks has been riddled with Dean Smith Stories? Is he staying is he going? No one knows. However, there’s no doubting he’s done a great job for Brentford.
After Brentford threw two points at Hull – showing the softer side of Brentford which has seen us narrosly miss out on a playoff place – Jim Levack probed Dean Smith on his future.
According to Jim, Brentford head coach Dean Smith has poo pood speculation linking him with other managerial jobs to give the broadest hint yet that he will still be in charge at Griffin Park next season.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Hull City the Bees boss said
“There’s always going to be speculation about managers or players when a side does well, particularly when it’s a club our size.
“But there is a long-term plan at this club and I’m acutely aware of what I have got here and that is always a big factor. It is a proper family club – in fact I was shocked to see my daughter walk out for the lap of honour with me.”
Smith, rumoured to be a target for the vacant West Brom hot seat, added
“It is a good football club and I’m enjoying my time here. On the playing side,
“ I have no idea if we will lose players in the summer, but they have developed as young men individually and as a group. It’s a privilege to be their head coach.
“If you leave it’s not always rosy and the grass isn’t always greener. There has to be a good reason to leave rather than moving on all the time.”
Headless Bee also gave an indication that Smith will be at Griffin Park next season after a conversation he had with Dean Smith’s wife. Mrs Smith said the family had now moved down to London and loved it down here.
Standing next to Dean Smiths wife and mum after match. They said how much they loved it here and how the fans are so respectful and family orientated . I said “make sure he doesn’t leave” The instant reply was. “Why would he. We’ve all moved down and he loves it here “👍

So there we have it. Rumour No 1 scotched for the summer. Who shall we move onto next?
Now that Ryan Woods character … he seems like a good prospect ..
