As things start to heat up as we move into 2013, BillytheBee thought it might be useful to help point people in the direction of any decent train deals going about to help increase the exodus of Bees from London to various places around the country every other Saturday
Check National Rail for the best offers listed below:
Shrewsbury (29th Dec) (**updated info**)
This could be the game when Brentford go top of the league for the first time this season – a moment stolen from us by mother nature the Saturday before Xmas so who wouldn’t want to be there? You can currently get tickets that work out at ÂŁ21 a head if you can get four of you together. Buy two groupsaves on London Midland – London to Birmingham return (ÂŁ56 for 4 people) then Birmingham to Shrewsbury (ÂŁ26.20 for 4 people) and you’re in. And the best thing is you aren’t tied to specific trains. There are four or five trains from London you can get in the morning at around 9am or 10am and there is one train every hour you can get back from Shrewsbury on in the evening. ** updated. You can now still get single tickets for ÂŁ23 on the London Midland website by tucking into a not too obvious Trick. Choose  your journey then once the prices come up, click on the “show other routes” tab beneath the journey summary details on your left (below first class and the other trains box). This will then give you a few more options. Click on ATW AND LM ONLY and miraculously, you will be given a ÂŁ23 return fare and also a ÂŁ66 fare for four people (ÂŁ16 ish each)
Southend (5th Jan)
Characters are talking about this game as the Luton cup game revisited for unexpected away fan turnout. Saying that with ÂŁ10 match tickets and a return fare cheaper than a central London one day travelcard, they could be right. Again get yourself together in a group of 4 and you can buy groupsave tickets to Southend that work out at ÂŁ6 each return from Fenchurch St and ÂŁ7.50 return from Liverpool St. Once again you aren’t tied down to specific trains on this ticket
Stevenage (26th Jan)
Being a mere 34 miles from Griffin Park and less than half an hour on the train from Kings Cross, there is very little excuse why anyone should miss out on this trip. Unless of course we are in the FA Cup 4th round of course which falls on the same day. Once again if you can get four people together, a groupsave will cost you ÂŁ7.50 each for a return ticket
Crewe (16th Feb) (** updated info**)
FA cup 5th round day admittedly but some cheap fares are flying around. London Midland are doing ÂŁ16 return fares if you choose your journey then once the prices come up, click on the “show other routes” tab beneath the journey summary details on your left (below first class and the other trains box). This will then give you a few more options. Click on ATW AND LM AND NCH ONLY and miraculously, you will be the option of two ÂŁ8 single fares (ÂŁ16 return). Megatrain tickets go on sale Wed 2nd Jan but don’t count on them To be cheaper than this. They very rarely come up trumps on this route as it is so popular.
Carlisle (9th Mar)
We put out an alert telling fans to snap up the cheapest ÂŁ33 fares a few days back. These have all gone now unless you are prepared to get the 6.05am from Euston and get into Carlisle for late breakfast. Other than that, ÂŁ43.50 is the lowest price you will get there and back for now and it won’t get any cheaper. The Falkirk fans coming down for this game had a slightly better deal snapping up their tickets for ÂŁ8 each way
Sheffield (23rd March)
This is the biggie. Tickets for Sheffield Utd go on sale on Sat 29th Dec or you could always wait for the Megatrain tickets which will come on in February. The problem with booking tickets early for this game is it is highly likely it will get moved for TV especially as there will be no premiership or championship games that weekend due to international fixtures
