This Saturday’s friendly between Brentford and Southampton is not only an important fixture in terms of both clubs preparing for an exciting 2017/18 campaign, but with all profits from the fixture being donated to the Grenfell Tower Fund, there is an added incentive to be at Griffin Park at the weekend.
Everybody has been moved by the tragic scenes from the horror blaze in West London, the impact of which will affect a whole community for many years to come, not to mention those who have suffered terrible personal losses or injuries. Chilling stories continue to emerge from that night and I know that if we can help in any way it will be appreciated by people in their moment of need.
Brentford and Southampton Football Clubs should be proud of themselves for arranging to raise fund for Grenfell, and with that in mind, Beesotted will be donating £200 from the auction from our last Social Club event to the fund. So thank you on behalf of all those who attended the end of season knees-up with ex-Bees players Gary Roberts, Francis Joseph, Graham Benstead and Billy Manuel. We will also be having a special Grenfell Fund auction item online this weekend… but more help is needed.
The club are asking for volunteers who are willing to help with the bucket collection in and around Griffin Park this weekend, as well as for local pubs to arrange bar top change donation collections.
If you are looking to go the extra mile and do something special for the victims of Grenfell Tower, then please e-mail Mark Devlin’s PA, Nicole Mehta, at [email protected] to coordinate times and meeting points etc.
