Brentford were today handed a tremendous boost ahead of our game at Leyton Orient tomorrow, with final approvement given for our new stadium development at Lionel Road.
Eric Pickles, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, today rubber stamped the application meaning that the Bees can push onwards with their plan to build a 20,000 stadium (and associated residential and commercial development) on the site alongside Kew Bridge station.
Beesotted would like to raise a glass to the magnificent efforts of the team behind the bid, which had faced some local opposition predominantly from Chiswick’s nimby population.
The new stadium should provide a real boost not just for the football club, but also all those touched by it’s strong work in the local community through the BFC Community Sports Trust.
Whilst the deveopment is great news for Brentford FC’s long term financial stability, Beesotted as well as other fans organisations will be keen to help the club shape a stadium development that keeps some charm, uniqueness and heritage for our beloved football team – as well as one that is able to provide fantastic vocal backing for the team on the pitch.
Let’s hope that a similarly good result at Leyton Orient tomorrow takes us a step nearer to having Championship football on offer at the new ground.
