Following consultation between Beesotted, BIAS and the Met police prior to Friday’s match, the following advice has been offered on where fans can drink prior to and after the derby against QPR.
The police have emphasised that they are not in favour of putting movement restrictions on supporters and are more than happy for the usual Brentford-style home and away fan mingling to take place before and after the match in and around the ground – something that has been well received by both sets of fans.
Thinking outside of this game, this is the type of hospitality Brentford fans would like to see more of on our travels – as opposed to this ill-conceived soul-less “designated away pub” activity that quite a few away clubs (including QPR it has to be said) restrict away fans to. Designating a pub is fine. But also give also fans the choice to drink elsewhere if they want to please.
The list of pubs and their pre and post-match fan policy is as follows:
O’Riordans:- Will accept both home and away fans. They are open for business as usual during and post match.
New Inn:- Entry to the pub will only allowed with a valid match ticket for either the home or away end. At 19.30 hours the bar will be shutting to football fans. Post match, entrance into the pub will be for Friday night regulars only
The Globe:- The pub will accept both home and away fans. The bar will be open throughout the game and will accept fans from both teams post match
The Griffin:- Entry to the pub will lonely be allowed for fans with a valid match ticket for either the home or away end. At 19.30 hours the bar will be shutting to football fans. Post match, entrance into the pub will be for Friday night regulars only
The Lord Nelson:- Will accept both sets of fans. The bar will be open throughout the game and will accept fans from both sides post match
The Beehive:- Will accept both sets of fans pre match. At 19.30 the pub will be shutting to football fans. Post match, entrance will be for Friday night regulars only
The Princess Royal:- They will accept both sets of fans. The bar will be open throughout the game and will accept anyone post match.
Naturally, we spend a lot of time discussing the QPR match in the pre-match podcast – which includes an interview with Clive Whittingham from QPR blog .
